Alexandre de Betak launches modular sofa 'Le Takbe' with Pierre Augustin Rose

architecture-design · 2026-05-23

During NYC x Design, Alexandre de Betak, the founder of Bureau Betak, unveiled his modular sofa 'Le Takbe' in partnership with the New York location of Paris gallery Pierre Augustin Rose in SoHo. This sofa is inspired by de Betak's personal designs intended for casual living. It includes a low platform and cushions that can be arranged freely; the initial edition with Pierre Augustin Rose introduces removable backrests for added support. Offered in both rectangular and square shapes, it comes in wool or linen and can be set up as a daybed, sofa, or a hybrid. After stepping back from Bureau Betak in 2023 to concentrate on personal design and art, de Betak is creating 'spaces of radical stillness.' His upcoming projects include a light installation for Frieze London 2025 and Chashitsu Hikari Schürli for Gstaad Art Week in February 2026. Pierre Augustin Rose, established by Pierre Bénard and Augustin Deleuze, with Nina Rose later joining, draws inspiration from 20th-century masters while maintaining a modern aesthetic.
