Alexander Kluge's 'Eleven Stories for Gerhard Richter' Published in Art Press
Art press publishes two excerpts from a cycle of 'Eleven Stories for Gerhard Richter around the year 1966' by Alexander Kluge, written for the major exhibition 'Gerhard Richter Panorama' at the Centre Georges Pompidou. Kluge, a German filmmaker and writer who won the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival (first German laureate after 1945) and the Büchner Prize in 2004, collaborated with Richter (born February 1932) on the 2009 book 'December' (French translation by Diaphanes). The full set of narrative vignettes, accompanied by reproductions of Richter's works, will appear in the next issue of the literary journal Fario. The texts explore themes of reality, perception, and the human face, referencing Richter's 1966 self-portrait. The excerpts are translated from German by Hilda Inderwildi and Vincent Pauval.
