Alex Israel's 'Where is My Mind?' Debuts at Pace Prints
Alex Israel, a multimedia artist hailing from Los Angeles, has debuted his inaugural collaboration with Pace Prints, a prominent fine art print publisher located in Chelsea, New York. Titled 'Where is My Mind?'—a nod to The Pixies' song—the collection features 10 archival pigment prints that delve into the artist's inner thoughts. This series is an extension of Israel's Self Portrait series, known for its large glossy fiberglass panels depicting his silhouette. In this version, the prints are more personal, showcasing imagery from his everyday life, including scenes like the Hollywood Bowl, views of Los Angeles from above, and the California desert with an iPhone outline. Each print began as a photograph, transformed into paint by Warner Brothers Studio's Scenic Art department, then scanned, printed, and framed in a silhouette shape unique to Israel. Renowned for blending Hollywood fantasy with reality, Israel has partnered with brands like Rimowa and Louis Vuitton. His previous works include the web series 'As It Lays' and the Netflix film 'SPF-18.' The exhibition is on display until June 6, 2026, at Pace Prints, 536 West 22nd Street, New York, with a new Los Angeles location set to open in fall 2026.
