Alex Cremonesi's relational album merges music and contemporary art
Alex Cremonesi, founder and lyricist of Italian band La Crus, has released a new album titled 'La Prosecuzione della Poesia con Altri Mezzi' on Riff Records. The album is conceived as an art object, blending relational aesthetics with music. Cremonesi invited 36 musicians and singers—including Bienoise, Lagash (Marlene Kuntz), Riccardo Sinigallia, Max Casacci (Subsonica), and Scottish producer Howie B (known for collaborations with Björk, U2, and Tricky)—to contribute a sound fragment or loop of their choice. Vocalists were asked to freely interpret one of five short texts inspired by psychoanalysis. Cremonesi then assembled these contributions into 17 electronic tracks with a singer-songwriter feel. The album is packaged as a numbered edition of 250 copies, hand-assembled by Cremonesi, featuring his own graphic design, lettering, and photos, with a cover image of Orpheus and Eurydice out of focus. A video contribution by Masbedo, part of an installation titled 'Il silenzio non esiste,' is included; the video pairs with a remix of 'Orfeo 2' featuring Lorenzo Monguzzi and Alessandra Bossa. The installation was presented at Riccardo Costantini's gallery in Turin starting February 6. Cremonesi cites Miró's phrase 'it is the material that dictates the work' as a guiding principle.
