Alex Cecchetti and Benoît Maire at Cortex Athletico

Cortex Athletico in Bordeaux presents a two-person exhibition titled 'Du classicisme' featuring works by Alex Cecchetti and Benoît Maire, running from September 27 to November 17, 2012. The show is conceived as a dynamic aesthetic theory, with clues scattered across three rooms. Cecchetti's paintings and Chinese inks explore indeterminacy through cloudy, geographical, or scientific resonances, resisting fixity out of poetic necessity. Maire contributes photographs of figures engaged in strange observational tasks, wooden rods topped with shells or crystals, Giacometti's nose on a camera tripod, and videos played on phones or computers. Together, they stage the transition from inert to living, trivial to surprising, suggesting that something disappears only to reappear differently, capturing attention through difference.
