Alessi's De Truffle Exhibition Showcases Truffle Slicer Designs in Alba

The renowned Italian design firm Alessi has joined forces with the Centro Nazionale Studi Tartufi and the Ente Fiera Internazionale del Tartufo Bianco d'Alba to unveil 'De Truffle. Il Design Alessi incontra il Tartufo Bianco d'Alba.' This exhibition is hosted at Palazzo Banca d'Alba's Sala Romana and will be open until November 26, 2017. Showcasing prototypes from a two-year collaboration (2015–2017) involving 15 out of more than 300 global designers and architects, the highlight is the winning truffle slicer design, 'Alba,' created by Dutch architect Ben Van Berkel. Selected by Alessi President Alberto Alessi for its aesthetic and functional merits, Van Berkel's design is likened to a sculpture that enhances truffle flavor while ensuring practical features. He received the Collar of the Order of the Knights of the Truffle and Wines of Alba. Notable participating designers include Patricia Urquiola, Michele De Lucchi, and Will Alsop, among others, as the exhibition modernizes the traditional truffle slicer, a staple in 18th-century kitchens.
