Alessandro Simonini: Art as Ontological Research and Psychomagic Performance
Alessandro Simonini, an Italian artist who integrates philosophy, mysticism, and performance, was born in Modena in 1985 and currently resides in Milan. He completed his BA in Philosophy at the University of Bologna in 2008 and obtained an MA in Visual Arts in 2012, having also studied acting at the Scuola di Teatro Louis Jouvet. Notable recent exhibitions include JUDGE-MENT at CURRENT project, Milan (2018) and STRINGS. LIGHT AND VISION at White Noise Gallery, Rome (2019). In 2011, he received the Next Generation critics' prize. His work JUDGE-MENTAL (torture) was showcased in Rome from February 10–17, 2020, and he is currently working on a performance called ALEPH, representing the Magician tarot card.
