Alessandro Roma’s ‘La Pelle del Paesaggio’ at Yamamoto Keiko Rochaix Gallery
Alessandro Roma (b. 1977, Milan) presents his solo exhibition 'La Pelle del Paesaggio' (The Skin of the Landscape) at Yamamoto Keiko Rochaix Gallery in London, running from April 18 to May 28, 2026. The show marks a continuation of Roma’s collaboration with the gallery since 2017 and explores landscape perception through two interconnected sections: one featuring static graphic and pictorial works, and an immersive basement environment with video and performance. Key works include the small-format paper pieces 'The Blooming Skin' (2019) and 'My Mind is Floating' (2019), as well as large canvases such as 'In the Midst of the Darkness' (2024) and 'The Blossoming della Mente' (2025). The exhibition incorporates references to classicism, Primitivism, Surrealism, and Magic Realism, and features a new video work with original music by Guillermo Lago for saxophone (performed by Caroline Halleck) and choir (Groupe Vocale Viriditas). The video is structured in five chapters—Mountain, River, Tree, Sun, Root—and explores the osmotic performativity between nature and the human body. Roma’s practice emphasizes painting as both process and gaze, integrating decorative elements inspired by craft and textile traditions to challenge the limits of the canvas.
