Alessandro Roma's Fanzine and Ceramic Sculptures at ClanDestino in Faenza

In Faenza, Italy, artist Alessandro Roma has created a limited-edition fanzine and two large ceramic sculptures for the ClanDestino club, transforming the takeaway waiting area into an art experience. The project, titled Sala di Attesa – Resistenze d'asporto, emerged from Roma's collaboration with Morena, founder of ClanDestino, after the 61st edition of the Premio Faenza was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The sculptures, originally made for the prize, now greet patrons of the gourmet restaurant Arbusto while they wait for their takeout orders. The fanzine, an artist's book with drawings and words, has been enriched over time with contributions from local artists, writers, poets, and photographers. The edition is limited, and copies are distributed at ClanDestino. Roma describes the fanzine as guiding the viewer through a suspended landscape of the Romagna hills, confronting a strange animal ready to bite reality, with a blue hand offering comfort and words leading to a seedbed of yet-unmanifested forms, evoking 'wonder and terror' in these uneasy times. The project turns a mundane wait into a moment of artistic engagement, reflecting resilience during the red zone restrictions in Emilia-Romagna.
