Alessandro Preziosi's documentary 'Aspettando Re Lear' intertwines Shakespeare's 'King Lear' with the art of Michelangelo Pistoletto. Presented at the 19th Festa del Cinema di Roma, the film follows the theatrical production from rehearsals at Chiostro del Bramante in Rome to the premiere at Teatro Goldoni in Venice. It offers a behind-the-scenes perspective, showing actors Nando Paone, Roberto Manzi, Federica Fresco, and Valerio Ameli embodying their roles even offstage. Preziosi, who also appears in the film, explores themes of power, madness, legacy, and the father-child relationship, aiming to demonstrate how theater and art can become contemporary through cinema. The screenplay was co-written with Tommaso Mattei.
