Alessandro Piangiamore's First Solo Show in Lugano Explores Volcanic Dust and Light

Alessandro Piangiamore, a Sicilian artist, is showcasing his inaugural solo exhibition at Repetto Gallery in Lugano, Switzerland, titled 'La polvere ci mostra che la luce esiste' (The Dust Shows Us That Light Exists), which will be on display until June 26, 2026. Drawing inspiration from Georges Didi-Huberman's 'La conoscenza accidentale,' the exhibition incorporates elements such as volcanic dust, light, and rainbows. Notable installations include 'After life,' featuring candied Sicilian fruits, and concrete pieces influenced by ikebana. The wall artwork 'Qualche uccello si perde nel cielo' alludes to Icarus. Additionally, the LED piece 'Giove Pittore di farfalle' employs smart lamps operated by Piangiamore. A video titled 'Te lo prometterò' shows fingers reaching for a rainbow. Repetto Gallery, established in 1967, moved to Lugano in 2022.
