Alessandro Mendini Retrospective Opens at Madre in Naples
The Madre museum in Naples is hosting 'Alessandro Mendini: piccole fantasie quotidiane', marking the first retrospective of the Milanese artist in an Italian public museum since his passing in February 2019, as well as the inaugural design exhibition at the venue. Curated by Gianluca Riccio and Arianna Rosica, the exhibition covers Mendini's five-decade career starting from 1970. It showcases his ties to avant-garde art through various thematic spaces, including Radical, Oggetti ad uso spirituale, Città filosofica, Alchimia Futurismo, Mobile Infinito, Proust, and Stilemi. Additionally, the exhibition underscores Mendini's impact on Naples, highlighting key urban projects such as the 1996 Artinmosaico exhibition, the Villa Comunale redesign from 1997 to 1999, and the Stazioni dell'Arte metro initiative.
