Alessandro Gori and Marco Pace collaborate on graphic novel 'L’età dei mortali'

Alessandro Gori and Marco Pace are creating a graphic novel titled 'L’età dei mortali', still in progress. The work features minimal dialogue and text, with illustrations entirely in ink on paper. Gori writes the stories, while Pace visualizes them. The narrative explores a future where death has been eradicated, focusing on human frailty and mortality through short, intense episodes set in the present. Themes include a middle-aged man at his father's funeral, a sex tourist, a suicidal farmer, and a highway accident involving animals. Gori describes the project as addressing 'that atavistic pain that is no longer spoken of, especially now that death seems to have become a meme, a social media app.' The collaboration began when Gori met Pace at a live show; Pace was initially a fan. Pace's style, described as realistic and unadorned, aims to capture the raw essence of Gori's narratives. The book is expected to be published in 2021, with interest from Confindustria. Pace considers the work equally his own and plans to exhibit the drawings alongside his other art. The graphic novel draws inspiration from Italian comics like 'Slurp!', 'Alan Ford', 'Kriminal', and 'Dylan Dog', as well as artists such as Andrea Pazienza and Gipi.
