Alessandro Franco's 'if STATO == "ATTIVO"' Opens Meccaniche della Meraviglia 20

The 20th edition of Meccaniche della Meraviglia, a series of contemporary art monographic exhibitions coordinated by Albano Morandi, opens with 'if STATO == "ATTIVO"', a solo show by Alessandro Franco. The exhibition runs from May 10 to June 21, 2026, at Leonesia – Fondazione Vittorio Leonesio in Puegnago del Garda (BS). Franco, winner of the 2025 Premio Nocivelli, presents a site-specific kinetic-sound installation that transforms the former stable into a continuous operational environment. Curated by Daniele Astrologo Abadal, the work combines sound art and kinetic art to critique contemporary political and technological regimes, exploring how technological development shapes human subjectivity. The installation features metal structures and fluid circuits in permanent recirculation, with microphones and software processing acoustic inputs from machines, architecture, and visitors to create a dynamic soundscape. The work aestheticizes labor processes, making visible the romanticization of fatigue in contemporary society. A book-object created by the artist and published by Vanillaedizioni accompanies the exhibition, merging the curator's graphic intervention with AI-generated sound.
