Alessandro Ciffo's Murano 5.0 at Paola Verrengia Gallery

exhibition · 2026-05-04

Alessandro Ciffo (born 1968 in Biella) presents his solo exhibition 'Murano 5.0' at Galleria Paola Verrengia in Salerno. After working with thixotropic silicone to create gestural works, Ciffo now explores a more ethereal territory, shifting from Murano glass techniques to a new solvent-free bicomponent silicone compound produced in Japan. This material offers greater transparency, allowing for enhanced crystallization and consistency, as well as shadow play that interacts with architectural spaces. The exhibition opens with a large installation from the series 'Sinapsi' (2018), previously shown in Roberto Coda Zabetta's studio, which descends from the ceiling and invites a luminous passage. Following are projects that reinterpret murrine and amphorae (three in the show are conceived as stacked rings), offering new, chromatically vibrant silicone forms resembling glass, amber, and droplets. The exhibition is curated by Antonello Tolve (born 1977 in Melfi), who teaches Pedagogy and Art Didactics at the Accademia Albertina di Torino and holds a PhD from the University of Salerno.
