Alessandro Bulgini's 'Neverland Gaza' tea ritual honors Palestinian victims in Turin

exhibition · 2026-04-26

Alessandro Bulgini, creator of the 'Artista di Quartiere' figure, has realized a new participatory installation titled 'Neverland Gaza' at Flashback Habitat in Turin. Every Thursday evening, visitors gather in a circle on the floor to share tea and reflect on the suffering of Palestinians in Gaza. The work uses everyday objects donated by people—rugs, chairs, lights, a camping stove—to create a relational space. Curator Christian Caliandro describes the piece as not describing, commenting, or communicating a theme, but living it and making it an experience. The ritual is inspired by shared tea among the rubble of Gaza during Ramadan. The installation is housed at Circolino, a venue within Flashback Habitat on Turin's hill, and is accessible by reservation. Additionally, on May 12, 2025, Opera Viva il Manifesto—also conceived by Bulgini and produced by Flashback—will present 'Stargate to Gaza' in the Barriera di Milano neighborhood. This edition features 14 photographs taken by residents of the Gaza Strip, facilitated by Jamil El-Sadi, the association Our Voice, and the Palestinian community of Palermo. The images depict what endures in a place marked by war.
