Alessandra Calò's Lightbox Installations at Sponge Arte Contemporanea
Alessandra Calò (Taranto, 1977; lives in Reggio Emilia) presents nine lightbox works at Sponge Arte Contemporanea in Pergola. Each piece layers vintage photographic plates of women with dried wild herbs, backlit to create a magical shadow-box effect. Calò sources negatives from flea markets and forages plants for optimal results. The works are paired with texts by Italian female authors. Her project Secret Garden won Fotografia Europea 2014, Premio ORA 2015, and Combat Prize 2016. The exhibition also includes a work by Claudio Zorzi, a student of Giuseppe Stampone at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Urbino.
