Aleksandra Domanović brings Medardo Rosso into augmented reality at GAM Milano

Aleksandra Domanović, who won the fifth Premio Arnaldo Pomodoro per la Scultura, will have a solo show at GAM – Galleria d’Arte Moderna di Milano from November 12, 2019, to January 6, 2020. The highlight of her exhibition is an immersive installation called The Falseness of Holes, located in the Sala del Parnaso. This piece combines Medardo Rosso's wax sculpture Portinaia (1883-1884) with augmented reality, allowing visitors to use their smartphones or tablets to view virtual elements that enhance the physical artwork. Domanović, originally from Novi Sad and now living in Berlin, explores the connection between the physical and digital worlds, focusing on feminist and cyberfeminist themes. The jury praised her unique ability to blend various artistic practices while breathing new life into traditional sculpture.
