Aldo Spinelli's Confetti Art at Galleria Monopoli in Milan
Galleria Monopoli in Milan presents a solo exhibition of Aldo Spinelli (b. 1948, Milan), focusing on his use of confetti as a medium. The show features 26,136 confetti pieces, which Spinelli calls 'the days of consistency of my life,' forming a sort of autobiography with engaged lightness. Critic Flaminio Gualdoni notes that in a fetishistic climate, these works nullify their physical presence by declaring their raison d'être in the absence of value, skill, and uniqueness. The project is titled 'Il Vero dalla copia' (The True from the Copy). Spinelli, who defines himself as 'an equilibrist who relies on words to make art a game and the game an art,' has explored order and disorder, rules and apparent randomness, paradoxes and plurality for over four decades. His art focuses on language, communication, and the laws governing perception, breaking rules to bridge them and their interpretation. The exhibition is curated by Lorenzo Madaro, a contemporary art curator and professor of contemporary art history at Brera Academy in Milan.
