Aldo Colella’s Collection Showcases Contemporary Art in Potenza
The exhibition 'La Potenza dell’Arte Contemporanea' at the Pinacoteca Provinciale di Potenza, curated by Lorenzo Benedetti, runs until January 12, 2020. It features 45–50 works from the private collection of Aldo Colella, a 40-year-old collector who has been collecting for 20 years. Colella founded the association Visioni Future eleven years ago, which hosts young artists for month-long residencies in Potenza, culminating in exhibitions at the Museo Archeologico Provinciale. The show includes works by 50 international artists such as Ai Weiwei, Antony Gormley, Mona Hatoum, Carsten Höller, Giuseppe Penone, Michelangelo Pistoletto, and Danh Vo. Colella’s mission is to promote contemporary art in Basilicata and connect it with local culture. For the opening, collectors from London, Los Angeles, and New York visited, many for the first time. Benedetti emphasizes the importance of spreading contemporary art in provincial areas through exhibitions and residencies.
