Alcova Transforms Abandoned Panettone Factory into Design Week Hub

exhibition · 2026-05-04

Alcova, a new exhibition space for Milan Design Week 2018, opens in the abandoned Cova panettone factory in the NoLo district. Curated by Joseph Grima of Space Caviar and Valentina Ciuffi of Studio Vedèt, the venue showcases industrial archaeology with untouched vegetation, raw walls, and machinery juxtaposed with works by about thirty international creatives and brands. Exhibitors include Buro Bélen (Brecht Duijf and Lenneke Langenhuijsen) exploring sun protection objects, Better Known As revealing behind-the-scenes of glossy photography, Architetti Artigiani Anonimi presenting lemon trees and terracotta shelving, and I-Mesh with contemporary tapestries using industrial technology. Label Dalbin features a digital screen-table for video art, Lara Bohinc references Art Deco and galaxies, Kostas Lambridis draws from a 17th-century cabinet, and Nanban with Piovenefabi creates Japanese-style kiosks. The event runs until April 22 at Via Popoli Uniti 11-13, Milan.
