Alcova Returns to Milan for Supersalone with New Location
Alcova, the independent design platform founded by Joseph Grima and Valentina Ciuffi, returns to Milan from September 4 to 12, 2021, as part of Supersalone. After two editions in the former Cova panettone factory in NoLo (2018-2019), the event moves to a new venue near the Inganni metro station: three historic buildings set in a large urban park, offering 3,500 square meters of indoor and outdoor space. Over 50 exhibitors—independent designers, innovative brands, galleries, cultural institutions, and companies—will participate. Alcova was launched in 2018 during Fuori Salone as a nomadic format that reveals unused spaces in the city. The founders emphasize multidisciplinary dialogue across art, design, food, and architecture. The new location is a former military complex surrounded by lush vegetation, with buildings from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. This edition takes place after two canceled Salone del Mobile editions and amid the pandemic; the large park allows for safe outdoor installations. No open calls are used; exhibitors are selected through the founders' network, focusing on experimentation, technology, ecology, new materials, and social models.
