Alcova returns to Milan for 11th edition across Baggio Military Hospital and Villa Pestarini

architecture-design · 2026-03-19

Alcova, founded in 2018 by Valentina Ciuffi and Joseph Grima, returned to Milan for its 11th edition during Milan Design Week, unfolding across two distinct sites: the Baggio Military Hospital in the Primaticcio district and Villa Pestarini by Franco Albini. The Baggio Military Hospital, previously activated in 2021 and 2022, expands this year with newly opened spaces including a church, former rectory, and historic archive. Installations include "Devices for Connection" by Leo Lague and Versa in the Chiesa, "Threshold by Objects of Common Interest" for Dooor in a hangar, "Seat in Touch" by Supaform incorporating Mutina's Bloc bricks, and "VOCLA / Design by Night" with HENGE by Ugo Cacciatori. Villa Pestarini opens to the public for the first time, showcasing Italian rationalist architecture. Exhibitors include Alicja Hajkowicz-Rudzka with "Layers," Elisa Uberti with ceramic vessels, Worn Studio by Natalia Ortega with "The Picnic," Patricia Urquiola's projects for Haworth and Cassina, and Boccamonte honoring Luisa Castiglioni. Alcova features 131 exhibitors and looks toward Mexico City for 2027.
