Alchemilla Residency Program Launches in Bologna with Three Artists

Associazione Alchemilla has launched the Alchemilla Residency Program, an international residency for early mid-career visual and performance artists, curated by Giulia Giacomelli and Gabriele Tosi. The program takes place in Palazzo Vizzani in Bologna and runs throughout 2026. The first cycle features Benedetta Fioravanti (April-May), Sofía Durrieu (June-July), and Eleni Tomadaki (October-November). Each residency lasts two months, with phases dedicated to personal research, engagement with the local art scene, and public presentations (open studios, installations, talks, performances). The program prioritizes long research time without requiring artists to produce finished works, emphasizing concentration, relationships, and exchange. The initiative aims to consolidate Bologna as a hub for international mid-career artists, fostering dialogue between artists, cultural operators, and audiences. The artists work across video, sculpture, painting, and sound, exploring image circulation, body-space relationships, and dynamics of otherness and language. Palazzo Vizzani's historic architecture provides a setting that balances isolation and connection, serving as a hinge between interior and exterior, concentration and exchange.
