Alcantara creates spectacular curtain for Verdi's Falstaff at Teatro Regio Torino

other · 2026-05-05

Alcantara, renowned for its Italian fabrics, has designed a bespoke curtain for Giuseppe Verdi's Falstaff, which will be performed at Teatro Regio di Torino. This project marks a continuation of its artistic partnership following a previous initiative at Palazzo Reale. Verdi's final opera, which debuted in 1893, is set to run from November 15 to 26, under the direction of Daniele Abbado and the baton of Donato Renzetti. The production features a circular stage inspired by Elizabethan theatre, with the Alcantara curtain harmonizing with unrefined wooden boards. Walter Vergnano, Superintendent of Teatro Regio, highlighted the goal of merging tradition with contemporary elements. This marks Alcantara's third venture with Teatro Regio, after Simon Boccanegra in 2016 and La bohème from 2016 to 2017.
