Alberto Zilocchi's First Solo Exhibition Abroad Opens in Berlin

exhibition · 2026-05-05

The Werkstattgalerie in Berlin is hosting the first solo exhibition abroad of Italian artist Alberto Zilocchi (Bergamo, 1931-1991), titled 'Rilievi e linee'. Zilocchi was a signatory of the 1957 Manifesto del Bar Giamaica alongside Piero Manzoni, was associated with the Düsseldorf-based Group Zero, and was an active member of the Nordic European Constructivist Conceptual Concrete Art Movement throughout the 1970s and 1980s. After an initial phase of informal art, he dedicated himself in the 1970s to the cycles of Rilievi (sculptural wooden panels) and Linee (compositions executed with black Rotring Graphos on paper or canvas, following a rigorous constructive conception). The exhibition is organized in collaboration with Spazio Testoni of Bologna and the artist's archive. Zilocchi's artistic legacy remained silent for over twenty years after his death, and this rediscovery is expected to grow in resonance. The exhibition runs until January 5, 2017.
