Alberto Tadiello Wins Mastrotto Prize for Arzignano Monument
Alberto Tadiello has won the Arciso Mastrotto memoria e futuro competition to create a monument for a roundabout in Arzignano, Italy. The sculpture, over 2 meters tall and made of marble, will reproduce the impression of a hand on clay, symbolizing the gesture of making. The competition was initiated by the Mastrotto family to honor their father Arciso Mastrotto, founder of the Mastrotto Group leather company nearly 60 years ago. Organized with curator Elena Dal Molin of Atipografia Associazione Culturale, 20 emerging artists were invited, with 14 submitting proposals. The jury included art critics Andrea Bruciati and Luca Beatrice, Santo and Bruno Mastrotto, and Arzignano culture councilor Mattia Pieropan. They praised Tadiello's metaphorical handprint highlighting the family's contribution to the community. Special mentions went to Diego Soldà and Federico Traverso. The monument will be installed in autumn.
