Alberto Sordi's Roman home opens as museum for centenary
To mark the centenary of Alberto Sordi's birth, his private residence in Rome will open to the public from September 16, 2020 to January 31, 2021. The exhibition, housed in Sordi's own villa at Piazzale Numa Pompilio overlooking the Baths of Caracalla, offers a multimedia journey through his life and career. Sordi, born June 15, 1920 in Trastevere, became one of Italy's most beloved actors, working with directors like Fellini, Risi, and Monicelli. The show covers his roles as actor, director (Fumo di Londra, In viaggio con papà), voice actor (Oliver Hardy), singer, and theater performer. A pavilion in the villa's square will screen his films. The house, where Sordi lived from 1958, was a landmark meeting place in Rome.
