Alberto Marangoni, co-founder of MID group, dies at 76

On February 2, 2020, Alberto Marangoni, a trailblazer in Italian kinetic art and one of the founding members of the MID (Mutamento Immagine Dimensione) group, passed away in Como. He was born in 1943 in Giussano (MI) and pursued his studies at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera. In 1964, alongside Antonio Barrese, Alfonso Grassi, and Gianfranco Laminarca, he launched MID, focusing on programmed and interactive art until 1972. The group later expanded into design and visual communication in 1973. Marangoni became a prominent figure in LedArt and taught at ISIA Urbino and Politecnico di Milano. He was awarded the Compasso d'Oro and resumed MID research in 2007. In 2013, Como honored him with a retrospective titled "Movimenti di luce" at Palazzo Volpi's Pinacoteca.
