Alberto Dambruoso resigns from Umberto Boccioni Foundation over temporary museum dispute

Alberto Dambruoso, art historian and former vice president of the Fondazione Umberto Boccioni, announced his resignation on November 12, 2020, distancing himself from the foundation's Temporary Museum Umberto Boccioni (T MUB) in Morciano di Romagna. Dambruoso criticized the project as a "fake museum" lacking artworks, featuring only enlarged photographs, and accused President Giuliano Cardellini of lacking art expertise. He claimed his participation was conditional on creating a proper Casa Museo Boccioni, not a temporary museum. Dambruoso also alleged Cardellini falsely claimed local patrons would donate €10,000–€20,000, which never materialized. In response, Cardellini defended the museum, stating it is the world's first dedicated to Boccioni, still under construction, and scheduled to open in March/April 2021. He noted that Beatrice Buscaroli, an art historian specializing in Boccioni and Futurism, replaced Dambruoso as vice president on November 24, 2020. The controversy was sparked by a January 5, 2021 article by Giulia Ronchi on Artribune that incorrectly listed Dambruoso as vice president. Dambruoso's resignation letter was published on Artribune on January 10, 2021.
