Alberta Romano Appointed Curator of Kunsthalle Lissabon

Alberta Romano, who hails from Pescara and was born in 1991, has been appointed as the new curator of Kunsthalle Lissabon, a contemporary art space that has operated as a non-profit since its inception in July 2009. The venue has hosted over 40 exhibitions and produced more than 20 projects. Previous notable solo exhibitions include those by Laure Prouvost and Athena Papadopoulos. Romano earned her Art History degree from La Sapienza in Rome and furthered her studies at Accademia di Brera in Milan. She began her curatorial career in Milan before working as an assistant at Chertludde gallery in Berlin. She became assistant curator at Kunsthalle Lissabon in September 2019. Upcoming solo exhibitions for 2020 include Ad Minoliti and Rita Sobral Campos, while the 2021 lineup features Otobong Nkanga and others.
