Alberonero's 'Caro Campo' Book Chronicles a Poplar Grove

publication · 2026-04-27

Artist Luca Boffi, known as Alberonero, has published 'Caro Campo. Diario di lavoro', a book emerging from a project between 2019 and 2021 on the banks of the Secchia River in Campogalliano, Modena. The project involved 290 poplars, where Alberonero created twenty temporary works that evolved with the natural changes of the grove until the trees were cut. The book, winner of the XI edition of the Italian Council, is produced by STUDIO STUDIO STUDIO, a lab founded by Edoardo Tresoldi, and published by Viaindustriae publishing with support from the DGCC of the Italian Ministry of Culture. The first presentation took place in July at Arte Sella, a cultural partner of Caro Campo. Future presentations are planned at Domaine de Boisbuchet in Lessac, France; Taller Chullima in Havana, Cuba; the Centro de Investigación Arte y Entorno at the University of Valencia, Spain; the University of Balamand in Lebanon; and Anda&Fala in the Azores, Portugal. The book combines photographs, audio and video recordings, natural materials, and the artist's poetic writing to create a biography of a poplar grove destined for felling.
