Alba Rohrwacher and Filippo Timi star in Roberta Torre's film on memory and Monica Vitti

Roberta Torre's new film 'Mi fanno male i capelli' premiered at the 18th Rome Film Festival and will be released in theaters on October 20 by I Wonder Pictures. The narrative centers on Monica, a woman losing her memory who reconnects with her identity by embodying characters played by Monica Vitti. The film is not a biography but a play of mirrors between the fictional Monica and the real actress Monica Vitti. Alba Rohrwacher and Filippo Timi portray Monica and Edoardo. Costume designer Massimo Cantini Parrini created original costumes evoking Vitti's film wardrobe. Artificial intelligence was used to include digital versions of Monica Vitti and Alberto Sordi alongside the live actors. Director Torre describes the film as exploring how memories are fragmented and reassembled like a film, with the protagonist clinging to Vitti's film personas as a lifeline.
