Alan Gelati's Intimate Celebrity Portraits at Gallery Hotel Art in Florence

exhibition · 2026-04-27

Alan Gelati (born 1972 in Milan) presents an exhibition of his unfiltered celebrity photography at the Gallery Hotel Art in Florence. The show features intimate close-ups of fashion, sports, cinema, and music stars, including Elisa Sednaoui, Anya Taylor-Joy, and a 2019 backstage shot at Milan's Plastic club with stylist Simone Guidarelli, La Stryxia, Pinky Rossi, DJ Nicola Guiducci, and the late owner Lucio Nisi. Gelati began his career in 1990s London among the Young British Artists, working for Christie's documenting auction lots. One image from a Russian swimsuit shoot was taken on Moscow's Red Square, where police arrived after 15 minutes but the model nonchalantly claimed she was sunbathing. Other works include Sean Penn nude hugging a fish, Yasmin and Amber Le Bon, and a model in Numéro Homme Eugeny Milan (2020) reminiscent of Botticelli's portrait sold by Sotheby's New York in 2021. Six female nudes in Firming Body evoke Hellenistic marble surfaces.
