Alain Guiraudie Curates Le Nouveau Printemps 2024 in Toulouse

The 2024 edition of Le Nouveau Printemps in Toulouse is curated by filmmaker and writer Alain Guiraudie, running until June 30 across multiple venues. The festival, under new president Eugénie Lefebvre and artistic director Clément Postec, has shifted to a neighborhood-focused model, this year centering on a district. Guiraudie, born in Villefranche-de-Rouergue and raised in Bournazel, Aveyron, brings his distinctive cinematic and literary sensibility. His recent film "Miséricorde" premiered at Cannes; he also shows photographs at Galerie Crèvecoeur in Paris and Buchholz in Berlin, and has published novels including "Ici commence la nuit" (2014), "Rabalaïre" (2021), and "Pour les siècles des siècles" (2024). Highlights include Jennifer Caubet's sculpture "Où disperserons-nous les cendres du vieux monde?" made from salvaged Airbus Toulouse headquarters materials, installed at Cour Sainte-Anne; Alice Brygo and Louise Hallou's video installation "les Oracles" at a retirement home; Sara Sadik's "Zehefology" shot in thermal camera; Ursula Biemann's "Deep Weather" (2013) at Fondation Bemberg; and Tom de Pékin's film and drawings at Musée des arts précieux Paul-Dupuy. The festival also features works by Daniel Larrieu, Alexis Langlois, and Elina Löwensohn.
