Aksioma launches online talk series (re)programming with Kim Stanley Robinson

digital · 2026-04-27

Aksioma, an institute for contemporary art based in Ljubljana, Slovenia, has organized a series of online talks titled (re)programming – Strategies for Self-Renewal, curated by Spanish journalist and writer Marta Peirano, an expert in technology and social movements. The program consists of eight monthly streaming sessions on the third Monday of each month throughout 2021, exploring concrete solutions to the ecological, political, and socio-economic crisis facing the planet. Topics include energy, infrastructure, community building, and artificial intelligence. The first talk on February 15 features American science fiction writer Kim Stanley Robinson, known for his Mars trilogy (Red Mars, Green Mars, Blue Mars, 1993–1996), in conversation with Peirano about his latest book The Ministry for the Future (2020), titled “Trigger. What does it take to change the future?” They will examine the connections between imagination and design, the role of literature, and what might motivate humans to pursue real change. Special guests include climatologist Lučka Kajfež Bogataj, environmental philosopher Luka Omladič, and sound artist and archivist Ida Hiršenfelder (beepblip). Future sessions feature sociologist and philosopher Benjamin Bratton, environmental expert Holly Jean Buck, AI critic Kate Crawford, and artist-activist-researcher Joana Moll, who studies the relationships between economy, data, humans, and the environment.
