Akiko Ashizawa to Receive Pierre Angénieux Homage at Cannes 2026
At the 2026 Cannes Film Festival, Japanese cinematographer Akiko Ashizawa will be honored with the Pierre Angénieux Homage, an accolade presented by Thierry Frémaux and journalist Charlotte Lipinska. Ashizawa, born in Tokyo in 1951, stands out as the most distinguished female cinematographer in Japan and is the second woman to earn this recognition, following Agnès Godard in 2021. During the festival, she will conduct a Master Class on May 22, with Jordan Mintzer as the moderator.
