AkaB's rare comic 'Eden 1.0' returns to bookstores six years after the artist's death

publication · 2026-04-26

Eris Edizioni, in collaboration with the Associazione AkaB, is reprinting 'Eden 1.0', a rare comic by the late Milanese artist Gabriele Di Benedetto, known as AkaB. Originally self-published in 2012 in only 100 copies, the nearly 90-page comic features protagonists Adama and Evo, a reversed version of the biblical figures, exploring existential dilemmas with cynical, minimalist dialogue and art. The new edition will be released on February 28. Anna Matilde Sali of Eris Edizioni described the work as a direct, immediate narrative that contrasts with AkaB's later 'Le mani di Z', showcasing his ironic and philosophical side. AkaB, a key figure in Italian underground comics, died in 2019 at age 43. The reprint serves as a tribute to his multifaceted legacy, kept alive by the Associazione AkaB.
