AKAA art fair celebrates 10 years in Paris with focus on African artists
AKAA (Also Known As Africa), established by Victoria Mann in 2016, marks its tenth anniversary in Paris. The upcoming 2025 edition is set for October 24 to 26 at Carreau du Temple during Paris Art Week, with Sitor Senghor, a collector and independent curator, taking the helm for the first time. Senghor, the great-grandson of Léopold Sédar Senghor, seeks to elevate the fair's standing and stabilize the African art market in France through a meticulous selection of galleries and artworks. Approximately thirty galleries and eighty artists will participate, with Senghor curating sections focused on contemporary African ceramics and prominent artists. The theme for 2025 is "Material," and the selection committee comprises Mamadou-Abou Sarr, Eve Therond, and Andy Amadi Okoroafor.
