AKAA 2024: Paris Fair Celebrates African and Diasporic Contemporary Art

The ninth edition of Also Known As Africa (AKAA) is taking place at Carreau du Temple in Paris during the city's Art Week, running from October 2024. Founded in 2016, the fair has become a key event for African and diasporic contemporary art and design in France. This year's theme focuses on the diversity of African identities and their representation in contemporary art. Exhibitors include international galleries such as Primo Marella Gallery (Milan), AKKA Project (Venice), and Lis10 Gallery (with a Parisian location). The fair showcases painting, sculpture, installation, photography, video art, and performance by artists from Africa, South America, the United States, and Europe. Beyond the commercial aspect, AKAA offers a program of conferences, talks, and artist encounters exploring intersections between art, politics, society, and history.
