Airbnb revives Italian villages with contemporary art by Lorenzo Vitturi, Edoardo Piermattei, Olimpia Zagnoli
Beginning in June 2018, three historic residences located in Italian villages will be available for booking on Airbnb, thanks to the artistic contributions of Lorenzo Vitturi, Edoardo Piermattei, and Olimpia Zagnoli. This initiative, known as Borghi Italiani, was launched in 2017 with Francesco Simeti in Civita di Bagnoregio and seeks to encourage sustainable tourism. Backed by MiBACT and ANCI, the project features site-specific artworks that are exclusive to renters but remain the property of the local municipality. Zagnoli will interpret Lavenone (BS), Piermattei will take on Sambuca di Sicilia (AG), and Vitturi will create a pyramidal room and sculptures from found materials in Civitacampomarano (CB), referencing Cuoco's "Platone in Italia" with painted quotes. Additionally, Vitturi has plans for a future project in Peru involving Murano glass.
