Airbnb offers overnight stay on the Great Wall of China
Airbnb is hosting a competition for four people to spend a night on the Great Wall of China in September 2018. The temporary accommodation is built on one of the oldest sections of the wall. Winners will enjoy a gourmet dinner, traditional music, and a guided walk with official historian Dong Yaohui. The contest runs until August 11, 2018, and requires applicants to explain why breaking cultural barriers is important. The Great Wall, a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1987, stretches 21,196.18 km across China. Construction began around the 7th century BC, and about 30% of it has disappeared over the centuries. Recent restoration efforts have preserved parts of this iconic monument, which Mao Zedong famously said was not for the faint-hearted.
