Airbnb Offers €37 Night at Paris Opera's Palais Garnier

Airbnb, in collaboration with the Opéra national de Paris, is offering a unique overnight stay at the Palais Garnier for €37. Two guests will sleep in the transformed Palco d'Onore (Honor Box), decorated in Imperial style. The experience includes access to restricted areas, private archives, a private ballet lesson with an Opéra dancer, a recital, dinner in the Foyer de la Danse, and visits to dance studios with panoramic views of Paris. The initiative coincides with the global revival of Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical The Phantom of the Opera, which will be performed in 15 countries and 7 languages this year. The musical is based on Gaston Leroux's 1909 novel Le Fantôme de l'Opéra, serialized in Le Gaulois. Veronique Leroux, great-granddaughter of the author, expressed support for the event. Airbnb aims to support cultural heritage and heritage tourism in Europe, funding restoration of the Opera's old boxes and enabling streaming of new content. The Palais Garnier, commissioned by Napoleon III during the Second Empire, opened in 1875 under the Third Republic.
