Aichi Triennale 2025 Explores Disconnection Through 62 Artists Across Nagoya and Seto
Running from September 13 to November 30, the Aichi Triennale 2025, entitled 'A Time Between Ashes and Roses', showcases the work of 62 artists at three locations in Japan. In her inaugural speech, artistic director Sheikha Hoor alluded to the Free Palestine movement. The title draws inspiration from a poetry anthology by Syrian poet Adonis published in 1970. Highlights of the exhibition include Robert Zhao Renhui's 'Seeing Forest' (2025), Mulyana's 'Between Currents and Bloom' (2019–), and Hiroshi Sugimoto's 'Dioramas' series (1975–99), along with Ota Saburo's murals from 1948, Hrair Sarkissian's 'Stolen Past' (2025), Dala Nasser's 'Noah's Tombs' (2025), Sasaki Rui's 'Unforgettable Residues' (2025), and Yamamoto Sakubei's mining illustrations. The venues are the Aichi Arts Center, Aichi Prefectural Ceramic Museum, and central Seto City.
