AICA Italy News: Klimt Conference, New Members, Ethics Code, and MAMBO Controversy

institutional · 2026-03-14

AICA Italy's April 2026 newsletter covers multiple events. On 19 April 2026, a conference 'Viaggio nell'opera di Klimt – L'invenzione della visione moderna' was held at Palazzo Muratori-Cravetta in Savigliano, part of the exhibition 'Gustav Klimt – Segno e visione'. Moderated by Diego Repetto, speakers included Alberto Mattia Martini, Laura Valle, Lorella Giudici, Marc Michael Moser, and Fiorenzo Silvestri. International AICA President Malgorzata Kazimierczak and AICA Italy President Gabriele Romeo attended. A collective exhibition 'A Journey through the Multiple Dimensions of Art' opened in the Langhe and Roero region, featuring painting, photography, music, poetry, sculpture, and digital art, with AICA Italy's moral patronage. Laura Valle inaugurated the show. The newsletter also profiles new member Paola Nicita, an art historian and critic from Palermo, and features Sepideh Takshi, an Iranian XR artist, under 'AICA Italy – Critical Talks'. AICA Italy expressed solidarity with curator Eugenio Viola after MAMBO terminated his contract on 6 February 2026. The exhibition 'Segno e Visione' on Gustav Klimt at Palazzo Muratori Cravetta (opened 13 February 2025) is highlighted. On 23 January 2026, AICA Italy elected its new board: Laura Valle as Secretary General, Diego Repetto as Treasurer, and Gabriele Romeo reconfirmed as President. A new Code of Ethics was approved in Turin on that date.
