Ai Weiwei's First Solo Show in India Opens at Nature Morte

Ai Weiwei has opened his first solo exhibition in India at Nature Morte, New Delhi, which will be on display from January 15 to February 22, 2026, coinciding with the India Art Fair 2026. The exhibition spans almost three decades of his artistic journey, featuring works made from diverse materials like porcelain, wood, marble, and even Lego. Among the highlights are impressive Lego sculptures, including Surfing (After Hokusai) (2025) and Water Lilies (2023). Ai also presents new pieces influenced by Indian modernists SH Raza and VS Gaitonde, along with the Pichwai art style. Notably, his Lego version of Raza's 2006 Surya Namaskar (Sun Salutation) and a unique banner called F.U.C.K. (2024) made from WWII stretchers are included.
