exhibition · 2026-04-23

The Media Majlis Museum at Northwestern University in Qatar presents 'Ai or Nay? Artificial vs. Intelligent,' an exhibition running from January 15 to May 15, 2025. Curated by Jack Thomas Taylor, the show features over 20 works by regional and international artists, including Amr Alngmah, Farjana Salahuddin, Hind Al Saad, Hadeer Omar, and Bilge Emir. It includes immersive digital experiences, newly commissioned works, and loans from the Computer History Museum, Barjeel Art Foundation, and Qatar Museums. The exhibition is organized around four themes: hindsight, insight, foresight, and oversight, and examines AI's impact on privacy, identity, and representation in journalism. Highlights include Jan Zuiderveld's Dream Machine, Patrick Tresset's Time to Read, and Adnan Ayub Aga's Adnose. A full-color illustrated glossary of AI and journalism terminology, edited by Taylor and Katy Gillett, is published by Silvana Editoriale in English and Arabic. Marwan M. Kraidy, dean and CEO of Northwestern Qatar, and director Alfredo Cramerotti emphasized the exhibition's role in fostering critical dialogue about AI and media.
