AI Mode surpasses 1 billion monthly users, transforming search behavior in the U.S.

A year after the introduction of AI Mode in the U.S., Google has announced that it now boasts over one billion monthly active users worldwide, with the number of queries more than doubling each quarter. This feature merges conventional search with conversational AI, resulting in unprecedented query volumes and new user behaviors. In the U.S., more than one in six searches employs voice or image inputs, with image searches increasing by over 40% month-over-month. The typical AI Mode query is three times longer than a standard search. In the last six months, planning-related queries have surged 80% faster than overall AI Mode queries, while brainstorming queries have risen 30% faster since its launch, especially those beginning with "where to," "where should I," and "ideas for."
