AI Manifesta: AI-Generated Political Posters in Bologna

exhibition · 2026-04-26

Since April 2025, an installation named AI Manifesta has been showcased at Via Zaccherini Alvisi 11/2 in Bologna. This project, crafted by Francesco D'Isa and Chiara Moresco, is curated by Sineglossa and Fondazione Gramsci Emilia-Romagna. It has received funding from the PNRR TOCC – Next Generation EU and the ACCCADE call from Fondazione del Monte di Bologna e Ravenna. Utilizing a generative AI model, the initiative remixes political posters from Manifestipolitici.it, which houses 17,000 items. From this archive, D'Isa and Moresco chose around 100 significant posters, culminating in a series of 280 that highlight emotional engagement through visual strategies, echoing Ilan Manouach's Fastwalkers and the "distant viewing" approach discussed in Taylor Arnold and Lauren Tilton's 2023 publication.
