Ahmet Doğu İpek Solo Exhibition at Tate St Ives
This fall, Tate St Ives is set to launch an exhibition titled 'Iron Earth Copper Sky,' featuring new works by Turkish artist Ahmet Doğu İpek. İpek created these artworks during his residency at Porthmeor Studios in 2025, after a studio visit by Anne Barlow, the Director of Tate St Ives, in December 2024. His technique combines watercolour, ink, and charcoal on paper, showcasing detailed mark-making and layers that explore the relationship between nature and human-made environments. Using monochrome shades, İpek highlights subtle variations in light, texture, and movement. Central themes in his work include transformation, resilience, and the impact of time on materials. This exhibition is part of the ongoing collaboration between Tate St Ives and SAHA, which supports artists like Burçak Bingöl, Hera Büyüktaşcıyan, and Cansu Çakar.
